Barcelona vs Almería, La Liga: Final score 3-2, Sergi Roberto scores late victory as Barça struggles to beat the league’s poorest team at home.

Barcelona vs Almería: Despite another bad effort, the forgotten midfielder scored twice as Barcelona returned to winning ways in the league.

Sergi Roberto has done it again for the team by scoring the late goal to get the lead for the team against Almeria.

Sergi Roberto scored twice to help Barcelona beat 20th-placed Almeria after an unexpectedly bad Ronald Araujo and wasteful Robert Lewandowski. The Blaugrana trailed twice before taking the lead for good with Roberto’s 83rd-minute goal.

Barcelona should have taken the lead within eight minutes, but Luis Maximiano’s diving save denied Roberto’s free header. Raphinha ultimately scored, grabbing onto a rebound and putting the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

Maximiano, on the other hand, kept the visitors in the game by denying Lewandowski from close range when the striker appeared destined to score. Almeria had limited chances, but took advantage of them. A Ronald Araujo gaffe gifted Leo Baptistao an open chance, which he converted, dinking the ball over Inaki Pena to tie the score at 1-1 just before halftime.

Barcelona will end the year in third place in La Liga and have ended a three-game winless streak in all competitions thanks to a 3-2 win over bottom-of-the-table Almera in their final competitive match of 2023, but the Blaugrana still showed there’s a lot to work on as they struggled mightily to beat the league’s worst team and could have easily dropped points again thanks to poor finishing up front and terrible mistakes at the back.

The pressure on Xavi Hernández will remain high after this game, and several players continue to perform below expectations as Barça finished the first half of the season in dismal way – despite the three points.

The Catalans could and should have put the game out of reach at the end, but Lewandowski missed another good chance and Roberto squandered two chances to complete a hat-trick, but the final whistle blew to secure the win and give the home team three crucial points.

To narrowly beat one of the worst clubs in La Liga history at home says a lot about where Barcelona is right now, and it almost makes you feel worse about the situation than a loss would, since there would be no papering over the fractures.
