All about Indri Whiskey

Piccadily Distilleries in Haryana produces Indri whisky. It’s a peated single malt whisky from India. Peated whiskies are whiskies with a smoky flavour that are produced by drying malted barley over peat fires. The strength of this flavour is determined by the length and intensity of the peat smoke.

According to, Indri whisky is prepared with six-row barley and distilled in traditional made-in-India copper pot stills. Smoke, candied dried fruits, toasted nuts, delicate spices, oak, and bittersweet chocolate characterise Indri whisky. From November 2023, the whisky will be sold in the United States and some European countries. The drink is already accessible in 19 Indian states and 17 other nations.

What is Whiskies of the World Award’s?

The Whiskies of the World Awards are an annual competition that recognises and celebrates exceptional whiskies from throughout the world. The prize serves as a showcase for alcohol manufacturers and distilleries to compete for the renowned accolade.

Indri whisky is the first Indian whisky to receive this prestigious award.

What is a Single Malt Whiskey?

Most blended whiskies are made up of single malt and grain whiskies from many distilleries; a single malt whisky can only be manufactured by a single distillery. Furthermore, it can only be brewed with a particular type of malted grain, often malted barley.

A single malt whisky, on the other hand, does not have to be the result of a single whisky barrel and can include blends from multiple casks. The final mix is deemed a single malt as long as all of these casks are from the same distillery.

Among the well-known Indian single malt whiskies are Amrut Fusion, Paul John Mithuna, Rampur Double Cask Single Malt Whisky, Paul John Brilliance, Rampur Asava, and Kamet Single Malt.
