On Thursday, the freshly unveiled Kia Sonet made its global debut at a ceremony in New Delhi. The upgraded model features significant exterior design changes and the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Kia Sonet which is planned to be released in India during the first quarter of the calendar year 2024, bookings are set to commence on December 20th.

                                                   Design

The company has given the Sonet a sharper and sportier appearance with the midlife update by reworking its grille, adopting longer fang-shaped LED DRLs, and a slim pair of LED fog lamps integrated in the revised front bumper.

The only significant difference on the sides is the addition of a new alloy wheel style. The new Sonet features Seltos-style connected LED taillights at the rear, as well as a redesigned bumper.

The Sonet, which is positioned as a sub-four-meter SUV behind the Seltos in Kia’s product lineup, has placed a strong emphasis on exterior style, much like its larger predecessor.

                                                               Colour

The new Kia Sonet comes in a variety of colours, including eight single-tone options: olive, white, silver, grey, black, red, blue, and clear white. There are also two dual-tone options: Red with a Black Roof and White with a Black Roof. Furthermore, a matte shade is available only for the X Line variation.

                                                              Features

In terms of features, the 2024 Sonet comes with two 10.25-inch displays (one for infotainment and the other for the new digital instrument cluster), heated front seats, wireless phone charging, a built-in air purifier, 70+ connected car capabilities, and a sunroof.

Kia has outfitted it with six airbags (now standard), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and ten advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features. The connection features have also improved, with the “Find My Kia” feature now allowing a 360-degree view of the vehicle via the smartphone app.

It will continue to be available in three major categories: Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line, with the last receiving a matte exterior appearance.

The Sonet has always been one of the most feature-packed SUV models. It has a 10.25-inch main touchscreen display and a separate 10.25-inch LCD driver display unit. A 360-degree camera, a smart air purification system, a high-quality seven-speaker Bose sound system, an electric sunroof, and the Kia Connect Skill connected with Amazon Alexa are all included.

Surprisingly, the cabin colour and seat pattern vary depending on the trim level. Sage Green Leatherette seats with all-black interiors are found in the X Line, while Black Leatherette seats with all-black interiors and White inlays are found in the GT Line. Seats for the Tech Line are available in Black and Brown Leatherette or Black and Beige Semi-Leatherette. Despite the fact that the overall proportions of the new Kia Sonet remain unchanged, the cabin space in both rows, as well as the cargo area, remain consistent.

The most notable upgrade is the addition of ADAS, with the Sonet now including Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, as well as Lane Keep Assist.

                                                Specifications

The updated Sonet’s mechanics remain the same. The Sonet keeps its two petrol engines and a diesel motor. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 118 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 81 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, while the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine delivers 113 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.
