Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, the world’s largest private mobile data network, has launched JioSpaceFiber, India’s first satellite-based giga-fibre service, to provide high-speed broadband connectivity to hard-to-reach places.

On October 27, Jio introduced the new satellite broadband service at the India Mobile Congress. According to a press release, the business intends to make JioSpaceFiber available throughout the country at extremely low prices.

“Jio has provided broadband internet access to millions of Indian homes and businesses for the first time.” “With JioSpaceFiber, we extend our reach to cover the millions of people who are still unconnected,” said Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited chairman Akash Ambani.

“JioSpaceFiber will allow everyone, everywhere, to fully participate in the new digital society with gigabit access to online government, education, health, and entertainment services.”

Jio now delivers high-speed broadband services to over 450 million Indian subscribers, offering both fixed-line and wireless options. Jio adds JioSpaceFiber to its already formidable range of broadband services, which includes JioFiber and JioAirFiber, to accelerate digital inclusion for every family across the country, according to the firm.

Individuals and companies, regardless of location, have unrivalled access to reliable, low-latency, high-speed internet and entertainment services with Jio’s products.

According to a press statement, the satellite network would provide additional capacity for mobile backhaul, boosting the reach and scalability of Jio True5G in even the most remote corners of the country.

Jio is collaborating with SES to gain access to the world’s most advanced medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology, including the only MEO constellation capable of offering truly unique Gigabit, fiber-like services from space.

Jio is the only firm that offers game-changing technology, enabling scalable and inexpensive broadband throughout all of India, thanks to its access to SES’s O3b and new O3b mPOWER satellites.

JioSpaceFiber has already connected four of India’s most remote regions, including Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chhattisgarh, Nabarangpur in Odisha, and ONGC-Jorhat in Assam, to demonstrate its capabilities and broad reach.

This connectivity demonstrates JioSpaceFiber’s potential to offer high-speed broadband services to previously underserved areas of the country.

“We are honoured to support the Government of India’s Digital India initiative with a unique solution that aims to deliver multiple gigabits per second of throughput to any location in India,” SES chief strategy officer John-Paul Hemingway said.

“Our first fiber-like services from space are already deployed today in parts of India, and we cannot wait to see how this will lead to digital transformation even in the most rural parts of the country.” He went on to say
