Russian President Putin suffers ‘cardiac arrest’ and collapsed in his bedroom on Sunday, according to the Mirror, citing a statement from the Kremlin-tracking Telegram channel General SVR. According to the report, physicians had to resuscitate Putin before transporting him to a separate intensive care centre within his official residence.

“Doctors performed resuscitation, having previously determined that the president was in cardiac arrest,” the broadcaster reported. “Help was provided on time, the heart was started and Putin regained consciousness.”

There have been speculations in recent years that Putin, 71, has multiple health issues, but the Kremlin has refuted any such claims.

According to General SVR, which claims to have an inside source on the Russian premier’s entourage, security officials heard noise and falling sounds coming from the president’s bedroom about 21:05 Moscow time. “Two security officers immediately followed into the president’s bedroom and saw Putin lying on the floor next to the bed and an overturned table with food and drinks.”

“When the president fell, he most likely hit the table and dishes, knocking them to the floor and causing the noise.” Putin rolled his eyes convulsively while lying on the floor. “The doctors who were on duty at the residence and were located in one of the adjacent rooms were immediately called,” the channel claimed, according to Mirror.

According to the article, Putin was taken to a specially equipped chamber in his apartment, where resuscitation equipment had previously been fitted. His condition has “stabilised,” and he was “constantly under medical supervision.”

The channel stated that it had previously discussed Putin’s health decline owing to oncology and a variety of other maladies. This case of cardiac arrest, it was noted, shocked the president’s inner circle, despite the fact that the attending doctors had already informed Putin that he was very ill and would not live until the end of October.

According to the statement, all official meetings and activities have recently been conducted by the president’s double. According to the station, following Putin’s heart attack on Sunday, several persons close to him called each other and decided to conduct conversations “regarding possible actions if the president dies in the coming days.”
