A passenger travelling in Vande Bharat Express train in Madhya Pradesh was shocked when he found a cockroach in his roti. The food was served by the IRCTC catering staff. The incident occurred while the passenger was travelling from Bhopal to Gwalior. Subodh Pahalajan shared the post on the micro-blogging platform.

Pictures shared by the passenger show the insect stuck to one of the rotis. The passenger took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his dismay, tagging @IRCTCofficial and using hashtags such as #Vandebharatexpress and #VandeBharat.

“@IRCTCofficial found a cockroach in my food, in the Vande Bharat train,” Pahalajan wrote.

Quickly addressing the complaint, the IRCTC requested the passenger’s PNR number and responded, “We deeply regret the unpleasant experience you had. Rest assured, appropriate actions will be taken to avoid any such incidents in the future.

This is one of the many incidents that has brought to light concerns regarding food quality and facilities in the railway. It is important that Indian Railways and IRCTC must direct an intensive survey of their food services to guarantee such mistakes don’t repeat.
